Policy & Regulatory Advocacy

At Sovereign Energy, we advocate for policies that uphold Tribal sovereignty, preserve cultural resources, and promote environmental justice at the state, regional, and national levels. Our legislative and policy efforts aim to ensure that Tribal interests are integral to discussions around energy development. We focus on embedding cultural preservation into energy infrastructure expansion and empowering Tribal Nations to shape policies that directly affect their communities, livelihoods, and cultural heritage.

Through this program, we provide Tribes with comprehensive support at the policy and project levels to navigate the complex intersection of energy development and cultural preservation. Our work fosters a policy landscape in which Tribes are empowered to lead the development of energy solutions that are sustainable and deeply rooted in their cultural and environmental values. By ensuring that energy development and cultural preservation can coexist, we strive to create an environment where future generations benefit from both clean energy and the safeguarding of sacred lands and heritage.

Sovereign Energy actively engages in legislative, administrative, and regulatory advocacy at the federal, state, and Tribal levels to shape policies that protect Tribal energy sovereignty, cultural resources, climate justice, and the socioeconomic well-being of Indigenous communities.
